2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Mary Dale (Judd) Walmsley of Wood River, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on July 28, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Mary Walmsley was born in Waterloo, New York to | ||||||
6 | Clare and Evelyn Judd on December 14, 1942; she graduated from | ||||||
7 | high school in 1960; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Immediately after graduation, Mary Walmsley was | ||||||
9 | employed as a secretary at the Seneca Army Depot in Seneca | ||||||
10 | Falls, New York; in 1972, she was hired by the Granite City | ||||||
11 | School District, where she served as the secretary at the Board | ||||||
12 | of Education Office and as the secretary at Lake Elementary | ||||||
13 | School; in 1974, she returned to Waterloo, New York with her | ||||||
14 | children and worked as the Director of Admission at the | ||||||
15 | Waterloo, New York Community Hospital; she married Gilbert | ||||||
16 | Walmsley in 1978, and they made their home in Granite City, | ||||||
17 | Illinois; she then worked as the personal secretary and | ||||||
18 | bookkeeper for Burton Bernard at the Bernard & Davidson Law | ||||||
19 | Firm; in 1982, she became the Executive Secretary for the | ||||||
20 | Director of the Kettler Center at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, | ||||||
21 | where she worked until she and Gib moved to Moline; and
| ||||||
22 | WHEREAS, Mary Walmsley was an active member of the Troy |

| |||||||
1 | United Methodist Church and was committed to supporting the | ||||||
2 | Harvest Ministry Teams and Global International; she also | ||||||
3 | sponsored children through Compassion International and other | ||||||
4 | outreach programs; in 2016, she was recognized and honored by | ||||||
5 | the Wood River Masonic Lodge 1062 for her work and | ||||||
6 | contributions to their meetings and fundraising activities; | ||||||
7 | her greatest joy was her family; she enjoyed traveling with Gib | ||||||
8 | and their friends and never tired of their rides to Grafton on | ||||||
9 | the Great River Road; she enjoyed her monthly luncheons with | ||||||
10 | her friends and the gatherings with Gib's classmates; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Mary Walmsley was preceded in death by her parents | ||||||
12 | and her in-laws, Granville and Bonita Walmsley; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Mary Walmsley is survived by her husband, Gib; her | ||||||
14 | children, Daniel (Patricia) Graville and Catherine Graville | ||||||
15 | Willis; her stepdaughters, Kit (Martin) Morrissey and Susannah | ||||||
16 | (Jason) Massie; her grandchildren, Nathan and Mitchell | ||||||
17 | Graville, Leanne (Christian) Willis Roderick; Maggie | ||||||
18 | Morrissey, and Matt Morrissey; her brother, Bill (Barb) Judd; | ||||||
19 | her sister, Phyllis (Barry) Van Lare; her nephew, Ian Van Lare; | ||||||
20 | and her nieces, Sherryl Van Lare and Susan (Curt) Bathras; | ||||||
21 | therefore, be it

22 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
23 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |

1 | Mary Dale (Judd) Walmsley and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
2 | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
