SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Leroy Edward Knudsen of Woodstock, who passed away on August 16, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Knudsen was born in Wabach, Nebraska to Oluf and Margaret Knudsen on December 24, 1932; he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea at the end of the Korean War; he married Carol Emricson on June 15, 1957; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Knudsen was a tool-and-die machinist for many years; he began his career in Woodstock; in 1999, he retired from the Mold Rite Tool & Die in Addison; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Knudsen was a long-standing member of the Woodstock VFW and a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Woodstock, where he volunteered every week and enjoyed socializing with the "day-time drop ins"; shortly after his retirement, he and Carol moved to rural Woodstock and enjoyed the country life; the door to the family's home was always open, and he treasured the visits from friends, neighbors, and family, as well as time spent with his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Knudsen was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Wilma Knudsen Moore; and his granddaughter, Amanda Puzzo; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Knudsen is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Kendra (Patrick) Puzzo, Kevin Knudsen, and Kecia (Mic) Griffin; his grandchildren, Hannah (Alex Badzor) Puzzo, Andrew (Maggie) Puzzo, Ben Puzzo, Kristen Knudsen, Kendall Natrop, Collin Natrop, Molly Griffin, and Maggie Griffin; and his great-grandchildren, Malyk, Tyanna, and Ariel; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Leroy Edward Knudsen and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Leroy Knudsen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
