SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Mary Catherine Shaw of Springfield, who 
4passed way on September 1, 2018; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Shaw was born in Springfield to Don and 
6Kathleen Shaw on May 12, 1976; she graduated from Sacred 
7Heart-Griffin and earned a bachelor's degree and a master's 
8degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois; 
9she married Shawn Berry at Sunset Pointe in Disney World in 
10Orlando, Florida on May 15, 2006; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Mary Shaw was employed as the Director of 
12Government Affairs at the Illinois Teacher's Retirement 
13Association, a position she had held since 2013; previously, 
14she worked in  communications for the Illinois Senate Democratic 
15Caucus; and
  
 
  
16    WHEREAS, Mary Shaw was preceded in death by her father; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Mary Shaw is survived by her husband, Shawn, and 
18her son, Lucas; therefore, be it
  
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1Mary Catherine Shaw and extend our sincere condolences to her 
2family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
