2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Victor H. Betcher of Silvis, who passed |
4 | | away on September 21, 2018; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Victor Betcher was born in Ashland, New Hampshire |
6 | | to Harry and Julia (Wicklund) Taylor on October 31, 1933; he |
7 | | attended Farleigh-Dickerson College and served in the U.S. |
8 | | Army; he married Barbara Ann Duplissis in Wharton, New Jersey |
9 | | on December 13, 1953; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Victor Betcher worked as a munitions commander at |
11 | | the Rock Island Arsenal for many years; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Victor Betcher was a member of the American Legion |
13 | | and a longtime volunteer at the Hammond Henry Hospital and the |
14 | | Hillcrest Nursing Home in Geneseo; he enjoyed bowling, fishing, |
15 | | hunting, and golfing; he was a fan of all sports and was an |
16 | | avid Geneseo football fan; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Victor Betcher was preceded in death by his |
18 | | parents; his sisters, Ellen Reilly and Ingrid Carlson; and his |
19 | | brothers, Raymond and Donald Taylor; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Victor Betcher is survived by his wife, Barbara; |
