SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Richard "Dick" Shockey of Danville, who 
4passed away on November 17, 2018; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Shockey was born in Lineville, Iowa to Earl 
6Dean and Noreen Avis (Gooden) Shockey; he graduated from 
7Northeast Missouri State College, now Truman State, and 
8received his master's and specialized education from Drake 
9University; he married Jane Ellen Sponsler in Leon, Iowa on 
10August 14, 1965; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Dick Shockey was Vice President of Administration 
12and Finance at DACC from 1989 until 2005; he was CEO of 
13Lakeview College of Nursing from 2004 until 2013; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Dick Shockey was a member of St. Paul's Catholic 
15Church and the Danville Boat Club; he served on the civic 
16center board and was the director of the NJCAA Basketball 
17Tournament for many years; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Dick Shockey was preceded in death by his parents; 
19and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Dick Shockey is survived by his wife, Jane Ellen;

1his son, Rhett (Meara) Shockey; his brother, Rick Shockey; his 
2sister, Patty Oliver; his granddaughters, Rowen and Arden 
3Shockey; and his many extended family and special friends; 
4therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
7Richard "Dick" Shockey and extend our sincere condolences to 
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
9further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the family of Dick Shockey as an expression of our 
12deepest sympathy.
