SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Lester Allen Klope of Alton, who passed 
4away on November 23, 2018; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Lester Klope was born in Alton to Lester and Cora 
6Alice (Borum) Klope on October 27, 1939; he married Linda 
7Wetzel at the Evangelical Reformed Church in Alton on April 22, 
81962; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Lester Klope was previously employed as bureau 
10chief by the Alton Telegraph and by Today's AdVantage 
11(AdVantage News); he was owner of L. Allen Klope Photography; 
12and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Lester Klope was past president of the Wood River 
14Rotary Club, the Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club, and the Piasa Bird 
15Council; he was a member of the Alton Golf Hall of Fame and was 
16named as the Alton Jaycees Outstanding Young Man of the Year;  
17he received the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of 
18America, where he was a Wood Badge Instructor;  he was president 
19of the Evangelical United Church of Christ Consistory, the Rock 
20Gate Homeowners Association, and Atwood & Associates; he was a 
21volunteer for Meals on Wheels; and

1    WHEREAS, Lester Klope was preceded in death by his 
2grandson, Jordan Klope; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Lester Klope is survived by his wife, Linda; his 
4children, Christopher Allen Klope (Sonja) and Kathryn 
5Vantonder (Quinton); and his grandchildren, Madison Klope and 
6Conner Warren; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
9Lester Allen Klope and extend our sincere condolences to his 
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
11further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to  the family of  Lester Klope as an expression of our 
14deepest sympathy.
