| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Jon Benjamin Oakleaf of Moline, who |
| 4 | | passed away on November 15, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jon Oakleaf was born in Moline to Joseph Benjamin |
| 6 | | and Janet Klein Rosenheim Oakleaf on July 18, 1939; he was |
| 7 | | educated at Moline schools and graduated from Moline Senior |
| 8 | | High School in 1957; he earned his Bachelor of Arts in English |
| 9 | | from Augustana College in 1961; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Following his graduation, he worked with his |
| 11 | | father in the insurance business for several years; he enlisted |
| 12 | | in the United States Army in 1964 and served with the 24th |
| 13 | | Psychological Warfare Detachment in the Central Highlands, |
| 14 | | Vietnam from 1965 until 1966; following his discharge from the |
| 15 | | Army, he worked with his father in residential construction; in |
| 16 | | 1969, he joined the staff of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline as |
| 17 | | a parish assistant, where he served for 33 years; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Jon Oakleaf was involved with many local |
| 19 | | organizations, including the Moline Bicentennial Committee, |
| 20 | | the Rock Island County Historical Society, the Riverside |
| 21 | | Cemetery Trust Fund Endowment Board, the Board of Friendship |
| 22 | | Manor, the Moline Jaycees, the Quad Cities Archeological |
