| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the |
| 5 | | Self-Funding Limitation Act. |
| 6 | | Section 5. Definitions. As used in this Act: |
| 7 | | "Contribute" means to make a contribution, as that term is |
| 8 | | defined in Section 9-1.4 of the Election Code. |
| 9 | | "Expend" means to make an expenditure, as that term is |
| 10 | | defined in Section 9-1.5 of the Election Code. |
| 11 | | "Political committee" has the same meaning given to that |
| 12 | | term in Section 9-1.8 of the Election Code. |
| 13 | | Section 10. Self-funding limitation. Notwithstanding any |
| 14 | | other law to the contrary, no person shall contribute or expend |
| 15 | | more than $5,000,000 to a political committee of which he or |
| 16 | | she is a beneficiary during a 2-year period that begins the day |
| 17 | | after a general election and ends through the next general |
| 18 | | election day.
