AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2028




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2028 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
 
4    "Section 5. The State Police Act is amended  by changing 
5Section 12.2 as follows:
 



6    (20 ILCS 2610/12.2)



7    Sec. 12.2. 
Burial benefit for State police officers killed 
8in the line of
duty.

9    (a) The Department of State Police shall pay directly or 
10reimburse, up to a
maximum of $20,000 $10,000, the burial 
11expenses of each State police officer who is
killed in the line 
12of duty after June 30, 2018 1997.

13    (b) The payments provided for in this Section shall be paid 
14out of moneys
appropriated to the Department for the personal 
15services of State police
officers.

16    (c) The Department of State Police shall adopt rules

1governing the
administration of this Section.

3    Section 10. The Line of Duty Compensation Act is amended by 
4changing Section 3.5 as follows:
 



5    (820 ILCS 315/3.5)



6    Sec. 3.5. Burial benefit. A burial benefit of up to a 
7maximum of $20,000 $10,000
shall be payable to the surviving 
8spouse or estate of a law enforcement officer
or
fireman who is 
9killed in the line of duty on or after June 30, 2018 the 
10effective date of
this amendatory Act of 1997.

11    The Attorney General and the Court of Claims may jointly 
12adopt rules and
procedures
for the implementation of this 
13Section.
