| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 | | 10-16.7 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/10-16.7)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 10-16.7. School board duties with respect to |
| 8 | | superintendent. In addition to all other powers and duties |
| 9 | | enumerated in this Article, the the school board shall make all |
| 10 | | employment decisions pertaining to the superintendent. The |
| 11 | | school board shall direct, through policy, the superintendent |
| 12 | | in his or her charge of the administration of the school |
| 13 | | district, including without limitation considering the |
| 14 | | recommendations of the superintendent concerning the budget, |
| 15 | | building plans, the locations of sites, the selection, |
| 16 | | retention, and dismissal of employees, and the selection of |
| 17 | | textbooks, instructional material, and courses of study. The |
| 18 | | school board shall evaluate the superintendent in his or her |
| 19 | | administration of school board policies and his or her |
| 20 | | stewardship of the assets of the district.
