Amends the General Provisions Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that beginning on the effective date of the amendatory Act, the minimum age at which a person is eligible to receive a retirement annuity or pension under any Article of the Code shall be increased by one year and, beginning 5 years after the effective date of the amendatory Act, the minimum age at which a person is eligible to receive a retirement annuity or pension under any Article of the Code shall be increased by one additional year. Effective immediately.

| 1 | | AN ACT concerning public employee benefits.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 1-155 as follows: |
| 6 | | (40 ILCS 5/1-155 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 1-155. Retirement age; increase. Notwithstanding any |
| 8 | | other provision of law, beginning on the effective date of this |
| 9 | | amendatory Act of the 101st General Assembly, the minimum age |
| 10 | | at which a person is eligible to receive a retirement annuity |
| 11 | | or pension under any Article of this Code shall be increased by |
| 12 | | one year and, beginning 5 years after the effective date of |
| 13 | | this amendatory Act of the 101st General Assembly, shall be |
| 14 | | increased by one additional year.

| 15 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 16 | | becoming law.
