| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jim |
| 4 | | Mitchell of Johnston City, who passed away on January 1, 2019 |
| 5 | | at the age of 74; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Growing up, Jim Mitchell was active in the Boy |
| 7 | | Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout; he graduated from |
| 8 | | Johnson City High School in 1962; he earned a degree in |
| 9 | | vocational education from Southern Illinois |
| 10 | | University-Carbondale; he was a veteran of the United States |
| 11 | | Army and served honorably; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Jim Mitchell worked for the Illinois Department of |
| 13 | | Transportation and retired in 2002; in 2003, he began working |
| 14 | | as a sales agent with Modern Woodmen of America; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Jim Mitchell remained actively involved with the |
| 16 | | Boy Scouts and volunteered his time to Boy Scout Troop #19 of |
| 17 | | Johnston City and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award for his |
| 18 | | dedication; he also served as the District Commissioner for the |
| 19 | | Boy Scouts in the Egyptian District of Southern Illinois; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Jim Mitchell was a member of the Lake Creek |
| 21 | | Masonic Lodge #729 of Johnston City; he was also a member of |
