| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Brian |
| 4 | | Elliott Sleet of Chicago, who passed away on December 26, 2018 |
| 5 | | at the age of 41; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Brian Sleet was born to Marion and Camille Sleet |
| 7 | | on December 22, 1977; as a child, he showed promise in several |
| 8 | | areas; he played the piano for his kindergarten graduation, won |
| 9 | | a writing contest in grammar school, played basketball and |
| 10 | | baseball, and was selected for the magnet school, McDade, and |
| 11 | | the academic center at Whitney Young High School; he was |
| 12 | | baptized at Pilgrim Baptist Church; in 2000, he earned a degree |
| 13 | | in Sociology from Dartmouth College, where he was known as the |
| 14 | | "Mayor of Dartmouth" because of his habit of meeting, greeting, |
| 15 | | and holding discussions on the Dartmouth Green; he earned his |
| 16 | | Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois in 2005; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Brian Sleet believed that politics was a way to |
| 18 | | influence public policy, and he was determined to make his |
| 19 | | contribution in that field; he recently started his own |
| 20 | | consulting agency and worked to help connect corporate clients |
| 21 | | with grass-roots leaders; and
|
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Brian Sleet attended St. James Community Church; |
