HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Proposed projects and plans to support job and 
3economic growth for the south suburbs of the State of Illinois 
4include the Peotone
airport, a trauma center, approval of the 
5Illiana Tollway, a commitment to property tax reduction, and a 
6commitment to maintain the vitality of the Local Government 
7Distributive Fund; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The construction of Chicago's third airport, or 
9the south
suburban airport, will help bring new businesses to 
10neighboring
municipalities and give south suburban residents 
11easier access to a
local airport for traveling; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The construction of a local trauma center will 
13help south suburban
communities better deliver care for mental 
14health services and address
chronic gun violence; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, The commitment to creating the long-studied and 
16federally-approved Illiana Tollway will create easier road 
17travel for commuters
and truckers, create short and long-term 
18local jobs, and boost regional
economic output by an estimated 
19$4 billion; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Along with these projects, property tax reduction 
21must also
be a key economic component of growth for the south

1suburbs and across Illinois
to keep homeowners in our State and 
2continue developing the region; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The Local Government Distributive Fund is vital to 
4expanding local economies in the south suburbs, and the funds 
5from this program should not be diminished in any way; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, These projects will help foster economic 
7development in
cities and villages in the south suburbs, 
8helping generate long-term
economic activity and creating 
9much-needed jobs for the area; therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
11HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
12we believe these projects are necessary for job and economic 
13growth in the south suburbs and should be supported by all; and 
14be it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
16delivered to all
Illinois constitutional officers, the Speaker 
17and Minority Leader of
the Illinois House of Representatives, 
18and the President and Minority
Leader of the Illinois Senate.
