HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Illinois Craft Brewers for their medals at the 2018 Great American Beer Festival; and

WHEREAS, Illinois breweries were judged the best of the best and won Gold Medals in the following categories: Midnight Pig Beer for Barley wine-Style Ale, Tighthead Brewing for Irish-Style Red Ale, Alarmist Brewing for Juicy or Hazy India Pale Ale, Corridor Brewery & Provisions for Other Belgian-Style Ale, and Argus Brewery for Other Strong Beer; and

WHEREAS, Illinois breweries Smylie Brothers Brewing Co. and Corridor Brewery & Provisions won Silver Medals; Maplewood Brewery & Distillery, Werk Force Brewing Co., Eris Brewery and Cider House, and Revolution Brewing also won Bronze Medals in the 2018 competition; and

WHEREAS, Breweries across Illinois are providing important tourism and hospitality options and are employing thousands of Illinoisans; and

WHEREAS, A recent survey by the Brewers Association showed Chicago at the #1 Beer City in the United States; and

WHEREAS, The vibrant Illinois craft beer economy was made possible, in large part, by legislation passed in the Illinois General Assembly, which has helped brewers invest millions of dollars and grow their businesses to serve customers who prefer local craft beer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate all of the award-winning brewers and all of the brewers across the State of Illinois for bringing national recognition to the quality of their brews and for contributing to the vibrancy of our neighborhoods and communities; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Midnight Pig Beer, Tighthead Brewing Co., Alarmist Brewing, Corridor Brewery & Provisions, and Argus Brewing as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
