| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Morris Picker on the |
| 4 | | occasion of his 100th birthday on March 7, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Morris Picker was born in Chicago on March 7, |
| 6 | | 1919; he married Florence on January 7, 1940; she preceded him |
| 7 | | in death on June 16, 1959; he later married Beatrice in 1966; |
| 8 | | she preceded him in death in November 2003; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Morris Picker was a Private First Class and an |
| 10 | | Infantry Rifleman Specialist in the United States Army with the |
| 11 | | 24th Division, 21st Infantry, A Company from November 1944 |
| 12 | | until February 1946; he fought in the Battle of Leyte during |
| 13 | | World War II and was shot in the hand; he was awarded the World |
| 14 | | War II Victory Medal, the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the |
| 15 | | Good Conduct Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Morris Picker worked as a furrier for 20 years; he |
| 17 | | also owned a resale shop; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Morris Picker has been a lifelong resident of Cook |
| 19 | | County and raised his family in the City of Chicago; he has |
| 20 | | four children, Isabelle, Lenore, Geraldine, and Ralph, ten |
| 21 | | grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
