HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives were devastated to learn of
the death of 
4McHenry County Sheriff's Deputy Jacob Keltner, who was killed 
5in the line of duty
on March 7, 2019 at the age of 35; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner attended Western Illinois 
7University, where he met the love of his
life, Becki; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Born in to a law enforcement family, the desire to 
9protect and help others ran in Deputy Keltner's
blood; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, A 13-year veteran of the McHenry County Sheriff's 
11office, Deputy Keltner was beloved by the
officers who worked 
12alongside him and the community he served; and
 
13    WHEREAS, A great detective and true "cop's cop", Deputy 
14Keltner was selected to serve as a member of the
U.S. Marshals 
15Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force; and
 
16    WHEREAS, A dedicated officer and lover of adventure, Deputy 
17Keltner bravely volunteered for a team that
chased "the worst 
18of the worst" criminal offenders; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner made the ultimate sacrifice in the

1service of that task force; he is a true
hero to his community, 
2to Illinois, and to his family; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner will be remembered as a man who 
4loved his job, his fellow officers, his country,
his Cubs, and, 
5most importantly, his family; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner leaves behind a loving wife of 11 
7years, Becki Keltner, and two young boys,
Caleb and Carson; 
8therefore, be it
  
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
10HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
11we mourn the passing of Deputy Jacob Keltner and extend our 
12sincere condolences to his family,
friends, fellow officers, 
13and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to Deputy Keltner's wife, Becki Keltner, and
his 
16family as an expression of our deepest sympathy and in homage 
17to a great man who sacrificed his life to protect others.
