HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Prairie City Soccer 
4League on the occasion of its 40th anniversary; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Established in the fall of 1978, The Prairie City 
6Soccer League (PCSL) is a recreational league that offers 
7soccer programs to children aged four to 19; the year  it was 
8founded, the league had 257 children enrolled; in 2007, a 
9travel soccer club, Fusion, was established; in 2019, the clubs 
10combined to become the Illinois Fire Juniors; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, The Prairie City Soccer League's purpose is to 
12make sure that everyone plays, regardless of ability and 
13socioeconomic status; today, the league has over 2000 children 
14enrolled each year; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, As a result of the Prairie City Soccer League's 
16success and the basic skills taught to children, all of the 
17local high schools have their own soccer teams; and
  
 
  
18    WHEREAS, The current president of the Illinois Fire Juniors 
19is Tim Koch; the previous president was Frank Schuler, who is 
20still a member of the Illinois Fire Juniors Board; therefore,

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
2HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we congratulate the Prairie City Soccer League on the occasion 
4of its 40th anniversary and wish them many more successful 
5years cultivating the physical, mental, and emotional growth 
6and development of youth through the sport of soccer; and be it 
7further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the Prairie City Soccer League as an expression of 
10our esteem and respect.
