HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Providence St. Mel 
4High School boys basketball team, the Knights, on winning the 
52019 Illinois High School Association Class 1A State 
6Championship; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The Knights defeated Cissna Park by a score of 52 
8to 29 at Carver Arena in Peoria on March 9, 2019; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The Knights compiled a season record of 30 wins 
10and six losses on the way to their championship; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, The Knights previously won the state championship 
12in 1985; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, The Knights are coached by Head Coach Tim Ervin; 
14the assistant coaches are Corey Allen, Eric Marshall, Reggie 
15Murray, Andre Williams, and Sam Smith; the managers are Samuel 
16Sutton and Tau Kennebrew; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, The Knights are Tim Ervin II, Eric Jordan, Titus 
18Ervin, Jordan Green, Jason Mason, Deion Jackson, Tyriel Nelson, 
19Corey Brooks II, Jonathan Gregory, Samuel Herenton, Keir Butts, 
20Micah Alexander, Avonte Thomas, and Taeyon Neal; therefore, be

2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
3HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
4we congratulate the Providence St. Mel High School boys 
5basketball team, the Knights, on winning the 2019 Illinois High 
6School Association Class 1A State Championship and wish them 
7many more successful years; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
9presented to the Knights' players, coaches, and managers as a 
10symbol of our congratulations.
