HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the John Marshall 
4Metropolitan High School ladies basketball team, the Lady 
5Commandos, on winning the 2019 Illinois High School Association 
6Class 2A State Championship; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The Lady Commandos defeated Teutopolis High 
8School by a score of 47 to 44 at Redbird Arena in Normal on 
9February 23, 2019; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, The Lady Commandos compiled a season record of 27 
11wins and 8 losses on their way to the championship; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, This is the tenth IHSA championship for the Lady 
13Commandos, a record  that doubles the five championships each of 
14two other teams in Illinois; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, The Lady Commandos are coached by Head Coach 
16Dorothy L. Gaters, Associate Coach Kimya Murray, and assistant 
17coaches Gwen Howard and Sandra Murphy; the managers are Trevell 
18Jones, George McNeal, and Kristan Williams; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, The Lady Commandos are Shamiyah Godfrey, Jalyn 
20Jimenez, Brandi Hudson, Dashiera Butts, Dajanae James, Jayonna

1Smith, Niyah Zamudio, Roquesha Sims, Aaliyah Johnson, 
2Tamariyanna Levy, and Ashante Kizer; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
4HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
5we congratulate the John Marshall Metropolitan High School 
6ladies basketball team, the Lady Commandos, on winning the 2019 
7Illinois High School Association Class 2A State Championship, 
8and we wish them many more successful years; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
10presented to the Lady Commandos and their coaches and staff as 
11a symbol of our respect and esteem.
