HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Harvey 
4Welch Jr. of Carbondale, who passed away on May 4, 2019; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Harvey Welch was born June 5, 1932; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Harvey Welch had a distinguished military career 
7in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of 
8lieutenant colonel; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Harvey Welch  returned 
10to his alma mater, Southern Illinois University, where he was 
11named Dean of Students and then served as Vice President and 
12Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs from 1987 to 2000; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Harvey Welch's life was dedicated to serving 
14others; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Harvey Welch was the loving husband of Trish and a 
16dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and 
17uncle; therefore, be it
  
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
19HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1we mourn the passing of Harvey Welch Jr. and extend our sincere 
2condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
3him; and be it further
  
 
4    RESOLVED, That  a suitable copy of this resolution be 
5presented to  the family of  Harvey Welch as an expression of our 
6deepest sympathy.
