| 2 | | WHEREAS, Today, there are only 71 living recipients of the |
| 3 | | Medal of Honor; these men are bound
together by the medal they |
| 4 | | wear and by the shared passion to perpetuate its legacy of

| 5 | | courage, sacrifice, and selfless service; the challenge is |
| 6 | | enormous and the window of
opportunity is closing with the |
| 7 | | average age of a recipient being over 70; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, The Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation is |
| 9 | | celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2019; over the last 20 |
| 10 | | years the foundation has created and launched education, |
| 11 | | recognition, and
outreach programs that have informed millions |
| 12 | | of Americans about the values embodied in
the Medal of Honor: |
| 13 | | courage and sacrifice, commitment and integrity, citizenship |
| 14 | | and
patriotism; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Over
the next 20 years, the foundation will focus |
| 16 | | on preserving the legacy of the Medal of Honor
and the true |
| 17 | | American heroes who wear it; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, The Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation is |
| 19 | | commemorating its 20th anniversary by hosting the Salute to the |
| 20 | | Medal of Honor and
Distinguished Citizens Award events in |
| 21 | | Chicago on June 6-8, 2019; and |
