HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to commend Evangeline Semark on her 
4service as President of the  Howard Area Community Center's 
5Board of Directors; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Evangeline Semark has spent more than a decade as 
7a leader of the Howard Area Community Center (HACC); she was 
8elected President of the Board of Directors in 2013; as 
9president, she has worked to ensure that issues of equality and 
10social justice are centered in HACC programs and culture and 
11has helped bring tens of millions of dollars of funding to the 
12communities HACC serves; she has been a valued friend, 
13colleague, and ally to many members of the HACC and the greater 
14Rogers Park communities; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, In addition to serving as President of the Board 
16of Directors, Evangeline Semark has served as a member of the 
17HACC Young Professionals Board; from 2009 until 2013, she 
18served as Vice President of the Board of Directors; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, The Howard Area Community Center began as a food 
20pantry in 1967; since then, it has grown into one of the 
21premier direct service agencies on Chicago's Far North Side; 
22today, it provides direct services to thousands in the greater

1Rogers Park area each year, including affordable and free 
2education, employment, and health assistance programs; 
3therefore, be it
  
 

  
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we commend Evangeline Semark on her service as President of the 
7Howard Area Community Center's Board of Directors, and we wish 
8her continued success in her future endeavors; and be it 
9further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Evangeline Semark as an expression of our esteem 
12and respect.
