HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the significant 
4contributions that the ministry of Pastor Shaun Lewis has made 
5to the General Assembly; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Pastor Lewis was born and raised in Peoria, where 
7he attended Bethany Baptist Church; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Pastor Lewis received his Master of Divinity at 
9The Master's Seminary in Los Angeles; he later settled in 
10Springfield to minister to Illinois lawmakers and their staff; 
11and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Pastor Lewis held weekly Bible studies and was a 
13frequent guest in both the House and Senate, where he gave the 
14invocation; he often visited lawmakers in their home districts 
15and sought earnestly to meet their spiritual needs in and  out 
16of legislative session; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Pastor Lewis created the Prayer Calendar to ensure 
18that every lawmaker in both the House and Senate at the State 
19and federal levels was prayed for once every month; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Pastor Lewis embodies 1 Timothy 2:1-7; therefore,

2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
3HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
4we express our deepest gratitude for the 12 years of ministry 
5that Pastor Shaun Lewis has given to the General Assembly, and 
6that we wish him the best in his new pastoral role in the 
7Peoria area; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to Pastor Lewis as a symbol of our respect and 
10esteem.
