| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Veda |
| 4 | | Laurette Cole-Brown of Chicago, who passed away on April 25, |
| 5 | | 2019; and

| 6 | | WHEREAS, Veda Cole-Brown was the second child of Charles |
| 7 | | Cole and Geraldine; she was raised on the South Side of |
| 8 | | Chicago, where she attended Farren and Ray Elementary School, |
| 9 | | Hyde Park High School, and Huston-Tillotson University; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Veda Cole-Brown began dancing with the Sammy Dyer |
| 11 | | School of Theatre at the age of ten and continued through her |
| 12 | | high school years; she graduated to the semi-professional |
| 13 | | junior Vashionetts and once performed at Club Delisa as a |
| 14 | | back-up dancer for Sammy Davis Jr.; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Veda Cole-Brown was a deeply devoted mother to her |
| 16 | | son, Kyle Amir Sneed, and cherished the life she lived with her |
| 17 | | husband, Richard Ari Brown; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Before her retirement, Veda Cole-Brown was a |
| 19 | | social worker with the Department of Children and Family |
| 20 | | Services for 28 years; and
