| 2 | | WHEREAS, Lake County is now among an elite group of |
| 3 | | communities throughout the nation that has officially ended |
| 4 | | veteran homelessness, based on certifications from both the |
| 5 | | federal government and Built for Zero, a national nonprofit |
| 6 | | organization; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, This important accomplishment has been achieved |
| 8 | | thanks to the efforts of the Lake County Coalition for the |
| 9 | | Homeless, the Lake County government, and the Lovell Federal |
| 10 | | Healthcare Center; since 2015, they have worked in partnership |
| 11 | | to quickly house veterans, improve coordination across service |
| 12 | | providers, and provide innovative solutions to barriers that |
| 13 | | were keeping veterans homeless; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Ending veteran homelessness in Lake County does |
| 15 | | not mean that veterans are no longer facing challenges that may |
| 16 | | cause them to become temporarily homeless; it means that Lake |
| 17 | | County has established a coordinated system of care that |
| 18 | | connects homeless veterans to housing and services, |
| 19 | | effectively ending their homeless status soon after they have |
| 20 | | been identified; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Lake County will continue to build on this |
| 22 | | significant achievement to prevent and immediately address |
