| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Kathryn Altadonna Kueper |
| 4 | | on the occasion of her 100th birthday; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Kathryn Kueper was born at home in Sandoval to |
| 6 | | Sicilian immigrants Frank and Rosilia Altadonna on October 10, |
| 7 | | 1919; the eighth of nine children, she graduated from high |
| 8 | | school in 1935; she married Ralph Kueper in 1941; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Kathryn Kueper began working at her father's Red & |
| 10 | | White grocery store, the precursor to the small chain of |
| 11 | | Altadonna IGAs, after graduating from high school; she and her |
| 12 | | husband then owned, along with other family members, Kueper's |
| 13 | | Tavern in Carlyle; after the death of her husband in 1955, she |
| 14 | | raised her three children, Tom, Rosie, and Paul, on her own; |
| 15 | | she tended bar before selling her interest in the tavern; she |
| 16 | | worked at City Hall and then, for nearly 30 years, at the |
| 17 | | office of Dr. DuComb; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, After retiring, Kathryn Kueper helped her |
| 19 | | daughter, Rosie, at the Corner Deli Rosie owned for ten years; |
| 20 | | she has enjoyed traveling and has visited Italy, Germany, |
| 21 | | Hawaii, the World's Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee, New Orleans, |
| 22 | | Niagara Falls, California, and New York; she has used her |
