| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kathryn |
| 4 | | Williams Timmes of Peoria, who passed away on October 8, 2019; |

| 6 | | WHEREAS, Kathryn Timmes was born in Ashland, Kentucky to |
| 7 | | Almira and Willie Williams on January 10, 1931; she attended |
| 8 | | high school at the Swift Memorial Institute, a private boarding |
| 9 | | school in Rogersville, Tennessee; her undergraduate education |
| 10 | | was at Bennett College, an all-girls, historically-black |
| 11 | | college in Greensboro, North Carolina; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Kathryn Timmes began her career teaching fourth |
| 13 | | grade in New York City; after a few years, she moved to Peoria |
| 14 | | and worked at the Carver Center; after a year, she taught at |
| 15 | | the Spalding Institute and the Academy of Our Lady; she then |
| 16 | | began her 50-year career with District 150 and taught at |
| 17 | | Douglas Elementary School and counseled students at Manual and |
| 18 | | Woodruff High Schools; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Kathryn Timmes was the first president of the |
| 20 | | Heritage Ensemble and a charter member of Delta Sigma Theta |
| 21 | | Sorority, Peoria Alumnae Chapter; she had many |
| 22 | | accomplishments, but her greatest pride and joy was her role as |
