| 2 | | WHEREAS, The American Legion was chartered by Congress in |
| 3 | | 1919 as a wartime veterans organization
based on four pillars, |
| 4 | | care for veterans, national security, Americanism, and |
| 5 | | children and youth; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The members of The American Legion are dedicated |
| 7 | | to upholding the ideals of freedom and
democracy, while working |
| 8 | | to make a difference in the lives of fellow Americans; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The American Legion Auxiliary was also founded in |
| 10 | | 1919 to support The American Legion and
honor the sacrifice of |
| 11 | | those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, |
| 12 | | military, and their families, both
at home and abroad; |
| 13 | | therefore, be it
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 15 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 16 | | we declare October 24, 2019 as "American Legion Auxiliary |
| 17 | | Centennial Day" in the State of Illinois; and be it further
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to The American Legion Auxiliary as a symbol of our |
| 20 | | respect and esteem.
