| 2 | WHEREAS, The Clinton County Baseball League is an amateur | ||||||
| 3 | baseball league established in
1945 by a group of men which | ||||||
| 4 | included St. Louis Cardinal and Major League Baseball Hall of | ||||||
| 5 | Famer Red
Schoendienst, and also Whitey Koralski, William | ||||||
| 6 | Zinschlag, Harry Wieter, Earl Taylor, Vince Kalmer, Butch | ||||||
| 7 | Imming,
and Gus Heidemann; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The men formed the league in order to offer Sunday | ||||||
| 9 | entertainment to the citizens of Clinton County in the form of | ||||||
| 10 | amateur baseball; the Clinton County Baseball League presented
| ||||||
| 11 | to talented and ambitious amateur baseball upstarts the | ||||||
| 12 | opportunity to compete in front of a
passionate audience; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, In the league's inaugural season, it elected Bill | ||||||
| 14 | Zinschlag as president, Harry Wieter as
vice president, and | ||||||
| 15 | Earl Taylor as secretary-treasurer; six Clinton County | ||||||
| 16 | communities, including, Albers,
Aviston, Bartelso, Breese, | ||||||
| 17 | Damiansville, and Germantown, fielded teams for the opening | ||||||
| 18 | Clinton County
Baseball League season in 1945; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Germantown is the only community of the original | ||||||
| 20 | six to have continuously fielded a team in the league; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Each game is played in accordance with American | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | League Baseball rules and regulations;
players have emerged | ||||||
| 2 | from Sunday afternoon baseball in the Clinton County Baseball | ||||||
| 3 | League to all ranks of professional baseball
competition; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, As one of the oldest amateur baseball leagues in | ||||||
| 5 | Illinois, the Clinton County
Baseball League will be | ||||||
| 6 | celebrating its 75th year anniversary this year; this November, | ||||||
| 7 | the Clinton County Baseball
League will be commemorating both | ||||||
| 8 | its 75th anniversary as well as the Clinton County Baseball | ||||||
| 9 | League
Hall of Fame Class of 2019; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 11 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 12 | we congratulate the Clinton County Baseball League for its 75 | ||||||
| 13 | years of providing indispensable entertainment to the | ||||||
| 14 | communities within Clinton County and the Clinton County | ||||||
| 15 | Baseball League Hall of Fame Members on the honor of being | ||||||
| 16 | inducted into such an historic organization; and be it further
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 18 | presented to each member of the Clinton
County Baseball League | ||||||
| 19 | leadership and to the Germantown baseball team for its 75 years | ||||||
| 20 | of continuous membership in the Clinton County Baseball League.
