HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to
congratulate the Gibson Area Food 
4Pantry on its recent rapid
expansion and unwavering dedication 
5to the people of our State; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Gibson Area Food Pantry was founded in 2014

7inside of a storage shed at the Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson

8City; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The Gibson Area Food Pantry now has a permanent

10headquarters inside of the Elite Performance Center in Gibson

11City; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The Gibson Area Food Pantry offers a mass food

13distribution twice a month, providing support to those in need 
14and  serving over 4,170 individuals, which includes over 350 
15families from throughout Ford County as well as Champaign,

16Vermilion, Iroquois, McLean, Logan, Dewitt, Livingston, and

17Woodford Counties; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, The Gibson Area Food Pantry provides a critical 
19resource to homes with food insecurities; fifteen percent of 
20those they serve are senior
citizens, and 45 percent are 
21juveniles; and

1    WHEREAS, The Gibson Area Food Pantry not only fills a
great 
2need in the community through its food distribution but
has 
3also found itself to be a beacon to the community, providing 
4residents a place  to come
together and volunteer to help their 
5neighbors and providing
various organizations a means of 
6connecting to serve a common purpose; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
8HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
9we congratulate the Gibson Area Food Pantry on its
rapid 
10growth, and we celebrate the dedication of its
volunteers for 
11their hard work; and be it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented
to the Gibson Area Food Pantry as a symbol of our 
14respect and esteem.
