| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Hawthorn Elementary | ||||||
| 4 | School South in Vernon Hills on being designated a 2019 | ||||||
| 5 | National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of | ||||||
| 6 | Education; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program | ||||||
| 8 | recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high | ||||||
| 9 | schools where students perform at very high levels or where | ||||||
| 10 | significant improvements are being made in student academic | ||||||
| 11 | achievement; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Hawthorn Elementary School South is one of only | ||||||
| 13 | 312 public schools in the nation receiving this designation in | ||||||
| 14 | 2019; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Hawthorn Elementary School South has thrived | ||||||
| 16 | under the leadership of Superintendent Peter Hannigan, | ||||||
| 17 | Principal Jill Martin, and District 73 School Board Members | ||||||
| 18 | Robin Cleek, George Fievet, Joel Finfer, Victoria | ||||||
| 19 | Helander-Heiser, Matt Jacobs, Sonali Patil, and Wes Polen; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Hawthorn Elementary School South is recognized | ||||||
| 21 | with this distinct honor because of its masterful learning | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | activities in which students explore and deeply engage with | ||||||
| 2 | content in a joyful, exciting manner and its belief that there | ||||||
| 3 | is nothing more important than growing the whole child by | ||||||
| 4 | combining robust academics with a full social emotional | ||||||
| 5 | curriculum; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program also | ||||||
| 7 | recognized Hawthorn Elementary School South's theme for the | ||||||
| 8 | 2019-2020 school year of "today a reader, tomorrow a leader," | ||||||
| 9 | which provides students with leadership opportunities while | ||||||
| 10 | also focusing on a love for reading; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 12 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 13 | we congratulate Hawthorn Elementary School South on being | ||||||
| 14 | designated a 2019 National Blue Ribbon School, and we wish the | ||||||
| 15 | faculty, staff, and administration many more years of success | ||||||
| 16 | and service to the children and families of the community; and | ||||||
| 17 | be it further

| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to Hawthorn Elementary School South as an expression | ||||||
| 20 | of our esteem and respect.
