HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The United States of America was founded on the 
3principles of liberty, opportunity, and justice for all; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Throughout our country's history, generations of 
5men and women have answered the call to leave their
families 
6and their jobs and put their futures and even their lives on 
7the line to valiantly defend our nation and its
inalienable 
8rights; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, For many, that sacrifice has ended in permanent 
10injury or death, yet their spirit remains in the
continued 
11preservation of our freedoms and the promise of liberty; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, America has called on her men and women in uniform 
13to protect our national security, to advance our
national 
14interests, and to preserve our rights and freedoms; and
 
15    WHEREAS, On Veterans Day, we recognize the men and women of 
16our Armed Forces past and present, who have
valiantly defended 
17these values throughout our nation's history; and
 
18    WHEREAS, On Veterans Day, we also remember and pay tribute 
19to the millions of patriots whose courage and
sacrifice have 
20secured our freedom, from those who suffered through the harsh

to those who are keeping the peace and 
2defending our values around the globe today; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, We honor all men and women currently serving in 
4the military for their sacrifices; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, We owe a debt of gratitude to our veterans and 
6wish to express our appreciation to all of our veterans
for 
7their selfless service to this State and the United States; 
8therefore, be it
  
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
10HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
11we recognize all veterans and the men and women who are 
12currently serving in our Armed Forces around the world.
