| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Luciano Silvestri on his |
| 4 | | success and longevity in the restaurant business; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Luciano Silvestri is originally from Siena, |
| 6 | | Italy; he served in the military, attended hotel school, and |
| 7 | | worked in a number of hotels in Switzerland; he then worked at |
| 8 | | a restaurant in the Soho area of London; after a brief return |
| 9 | | to work in Italy, he left to work on the Sitmar and Princess |
| 10 | | Cruise ships, where he met his wife, and they settled in |
| 11 | | Chicago
in 1977; he worked for a few years at the Pronto |
| 12 | | restaurant, located behind the John Hancock Center; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Luciano Silvestri had the opportunity to purchase |
| 14 | | Bruna's Ristorante in 1981 from Bella Bruna and her daughter; |
| 15 | | he is only the second owner and kept many of the same recipes, |
| 16 | | as well as
adding some from his family and bringing in new ones |
| 17 | | from his trips to Italy; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Bruna's opened in 1933 and is the
third oldest |
| 19 | | Italian restaurant in Chicago; today, it is known for its wide |
| 20 | | assortment of pasta dishes, tender veal, and Bella Bruna's |
| 21 | | original roast chicken recipe; it is also home to what many say |
| 22 | | is the city's best tiramisu, which Luciano Silvestri makes |
