HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Glenview Fire Chief Ralph 
4Ensign on the occasion of his retirement after 43 years of 
5service; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Ralph Ensign started his career as a 
7firefighter/paramedic with the Winnetka Fire
Department in 
81976, after earning a bachelor's degree in fire service 
9management from
Southern Illinois University; he joined the 
10Highland Park Fire Department in 1978; he was
promoted to 
11lieutenant in 1989 and to captain in 1991; in 2008, he was 
12hired as
deputy fire chief in Glenview; he was promoted to 
13chief in December 2014; he has also been a paid on-call and 
14paid on-premise firefighter with the Northfield Fire-Rescue 
15Department, where his father retired as assistant chief in 
161979; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, In Glenview, Ralph Ensign was instrumental in the 
18design and construction of Fire Station 6 and planning the 
19replacement for Fire Station 8; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Ralph Ensign helped implement a non-department 
21student ride-a-long
paramedic training program through 
22Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and a smoke
detector

1installation program for occupancies that did not have 
2operating units; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Ralph Ensign was a founding member of and assisted 
4in the development of the Mutual Aid
Box Alarm System (MABAS) 
5Division III Hazardous Materials Response Team, which is a 
6partnership of 19 suburban communities created to provide 
7personnel, equipment, and resources to one another when needed; 
8and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Ralph Ensign has had a tremendous career serving 
10the communities of Northfield,
Winnetka, Highland Park, and 
11Glenview; therefore, be it
  
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
13HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
14we congratulate Glenview Fire Chief Ralph Ensign on his 
15retirement after 43 years of service, and we wish him the best 
16in all his future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18presented to Ralph Ensign as a symbol of our respect and 
19esteem.
