| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Eric Phillips on | ||||||
| 4 | receiving the 2019 Most Innovative Blood Drive Coordinator | ||||||
| 5 | Award from the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; | ||||||
| 6 | and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Blood centers rely 100% on donations from | ||||||
| 8 | volunteer donors in order to maintain a safe and viable blood | ||||||
| 9 | supply; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Blood drive coordinators play a vital role in | ||||||
| 11 | educating the public on the importance of blood donation; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Through his role as director of the University of | ||||||
| 13 | Illinois at Chicago Athletic Department, Eric Phillips set out | ||||||
| 14 | to organize the biggest blood drive ever held in Illinois; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, After months of logistical planning and a heavy | ||||||
| 16 | marketing campaign, Eric Phillips' blood drive at the U of I | ||||||
| 17 | Pavilion in September of 2018 resulted in a record number of | ||||||
| 18 | 759 blood donations, which helped save 2,277 lives; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Eric Phillips's blood drive succeeded in breaking | ||||||
| 20 | the record for the greatest number of blood donations at a | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | drive-in a single day in Illinois history; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Every summer, the Illinois Coalition of Community | ||||||
| 3 | Blood Centers holds a statewide competition to honor | ||||||
| 4 | individuals who have made a major impact in their communities | ||||||
| 5 | through their blood drive collection efforts; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, In June of 2019, Vitalant nominated Eric Phillips | ||||||
| 7 | in the Most Innovative Blood Drive Coordinator category; he was | ||||||
| 8 | chosen in July of 2019 by the Illinois Coalition of Community | ||||||
| 9 | Blood Centers as the state winner; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 11 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 12 | we congratulate Eric Phillips on receiving the 2019 Most | ||||||
| 13 | Innovative Blood Drive Coordinator Award, commend him for his | ||||||
| 14 | hard work and dedication in organizing the State's largest | ||||||
| 15 | blood drive, and thank him for all the lives that were saved | ||||||
| 16 | through his efforts; and be it further
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 18 | presented to Eric Phillips as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 19 | esteem.
