HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate St. Clair  County on being 
4named a 2020 Great American Defense Community; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, St. Clair County is home to Scott Air Force Base 
6and is one of only five communities across the U.S. to receive 
7this honor, which is presented by the Association of
Defense 
8Communities in conjunction with USAA, the official sponsor of 
9the America's Great Defense Communities program; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, The Great American Defense Communities program 
11was established to recognize
the role that communities and 
12regions with active military installations play in supporting 
13service
members and their families; the communities recognized 
14by this award demonstrate
exemplary work in improving the 
15quality of life of military personnel and their families; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Over 60,000 active duty, guardsmen, reservists, 
17spouses, retirees, and their families bring their
wealth of 
18knowledge and experience to the St. Clair County area; and
  
 
  
19    WHEREAS, This award demonstrates the commitment that St. 
20Clair County has towards Scott Air Force Base and the military 
21personal and their families that work and live in the area;

1therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
3HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
4we congratulate St. Clair  County on being named a 2020 Great 
5American Defense Community; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the St. Clair County Board as a symbol of our 
8respect and esteem.
