HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Woodridge Park District Commissioner and Board President Fred C. Hohnke Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke was a dedicated and passionate advocate for parks and recreation whose personal mission was to provide the very best of the best for the Woodridge community; he was elected to the Woodridge Park District Board of Commissioners in April 1989 and was reelected in 1995, 2001, 2007, 2013, and 2019; he served as the board's vice president from 1993 to 1996 and as president from 1996 until his recent retirement; and

WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke received the 1998 NRPA's Citizen Board Member Branch National Service Award, the IAPD's 1999 Allan A. Weissburg Commissioner of the Year Award, and the 2004 Mike Cassidy Commissioner Community Service Award; most recently on December 3, 2019, he received the Building on Our Dream Award from Woodridge Mayor Gina Cunningham-Picek, the village's highest honor; and

WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke's contributions to the State of Illinois, the Woodridge Park District, and his community will live on for generations to come; and

WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke was the beloved husband of the late Carol J. Hohnke (Dakter); the loving father of Kathryn (Al Granum), Fred C. III (Daisy), and James (Meredith Dehmer) Hohnke; the cherished grandfather of Grace Dehmer, Frederick IV, and Lucas Hohnke; the dear brother of Roy Sears; and the brother-in-law of Ron and Joyce Ruckert and Ron and Kathleen Dakter; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Fred C. Hohnke Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Fred Hohnke as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
