HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Cowser family 
4of Bradford for being recognized as the 2020 Family of the Year 
5by the Illinois Pork Producers Association; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Delbert and his wife Eva, with their children 
7Rodger and Phyllis Cowser, started building their farm in 1932 
8with 80 acres of land, four horses, and a herd of swine; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, After four generations, Rodger and his wife 
10Annetta, with their children Steve, Andy, Marc, Darin, Vonnie, 
11and Paula Cowser, moved to the Elmore Stock Farm and have 
12helped it grow to thousands of acres today, with pigs, cows, 
13corn, soybeans, and more; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, We remember those family members they have lost, 
15including Rodger, who passed away in August 2019, and Mike, son 
16of Steve and Charlotte, who loved to work alongside his family 
17on the farm and died in an accident at the age of 14; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, The core values of the Cowser pork business are 
19family and faith; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, The family has been, and still is, actively

1involved and engaged in the farming and agriculture community 
2in central Illinois,  with service to the Illinois Farm Bureau 
3through education of the public and 4-H; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, The Cowser family regularly donates pork to local 
5organizations for fundraising meals; they also serve their 
6respective communities through holding township and school 
7board offices; therefore, be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
9HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
10we honor the Cowser family on being named as the Illinois Pork 
11Producers Association's 2020 Family of the Year; and be it 
12further
  
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14presented to the Cowser family as an expression of our esteem.
