HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Commander Kathleen Shaughnessy on her retirement from the Park Ridge Police Department, where she has served since July of 1990 as the Criminal Investigations Commander; and

WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Police Department and the City of Park Ridge have benefited from Cdr. Shaughnessy's professionalism, dedication, and hard work for more than 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Since 1990, Cdr. Shaughnessy has received more than two dozen awards for her actions, as well as commendations from other agencies; most importantly, she has received numerous letters from the residents she serves; and

WHEREAS, Cdr. Shaughnessy's hard work and investigative skills have been the hallmark of these awards throughout her career in law enforcement; and

WHEREAS, Cdr. Shaughnessy implemented an investigative call back program to provide accurate up to date information to assist ongoing investigations; and

WHEREAS, Under Cdr. Shaughnessy's leadership, investigators and evidence technicians were trained and certified in a wider range of skills, improving the overall performance of the Investigations Unit and its ability to serve the citizens of Park Ridge; and

WHEREAS, The Park Ridge Police Department serves approximately 37,000 residents, and the people in the department and residents of the city will miss Cdr. Shaughnessy's strategic leadership and community partnership; and

WHEREAS, Cdr. Shaughnessy has done notable work while in charge of large scale event coordination, which forged excellent working relations between the Park Ridge Police Department and outside agencies, including the Rosemont Police Department, which assisted with resources for the annual July 3rd fireworks shows; and

WHEREAS, A retirement reception to honor Cdr. Shaughnessy for her service to the City of Park Ridge will be held on August 3, 2020; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Commander Kathleen Shaughnessy on a job well done at the Park Ridge Police Department, and we thank and commend her for her professionalism, dedication, and care for the community she served for 30 years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Cdr. Shaughnessy and the Park Ridge Police Department as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
