| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the boys, girls, and young | ||||||
| 4 | adults that helped 4-H of Kendall County celebrate National 4-H | ||||||
| 5 | Week during the month of October; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, National 4-H Week was October 4-10, 2020; the | ||||||
| 7 | week-long designation provided an opportunity for youth, | ||||||
| 8 | parents, volunteers, and alumni to celebrate the many | ||||||
| 9 | achievements and opportunities that 4-H clubs offer youth in | ||||||
| 10 | communities all across the country; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Holding true to the club's foundational | ||||||
| 12 | commitment to improve the Head, Heart, Hands, and Health of | ||||||
| 13 | youth, the 2020 National 4-H theme this year was | ||||||
| 14 | Opportunity4All; the campaign is centered on helping put an end | ||||||
| 15 | to the opportunity gap that, according to the National 4-H | ||||||
| 16 | Council, impedes 55 million kids throughout the United States | ||||||
| 17 | from reaching their full potential due to their spatial, | ||||||
| 18 | societal, or economic situation; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Through this year's campaign, 4-H clubs across the | ||||||
| 20 | country hope to bring forth diverse voices and offer innovative | ||||||
| 21 | solutions to the myriad of issues that have contributed, and | ||||||
| 22 | continue to contribute to, the opportunity gap; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, This new-found focus has helped 4-H programs | ||||||
| 2 | continue their future-focused mission; as 4-H Youth | ||||||
| 3 | Development Educator from the University of Illinois Extension | ||||||
| 4 | School Donna Nuger stated, "4-H may have its roots in | ||||||
| 5 | agriculture and animal science, but the opportunities it | ||||||
| 6 | provides branch into career and leadership development, civic | ||||||
| 7 | engagement, creative arts, environment, food systems, healthy | ||||||
| 8 | living, and STEM"; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, In Illinois, 4-H clubs offer positive youth | ||||||
| 10 | development programs that foster belonging, independence, | ||||||
| 11 | generosity, and mastery for youth of all ages, ranging from | ||||||
| 12 | eight to 18, with some clubs offering Cloverbud programs that | ||||||
| 13 | are designed for younger children aged five to seven; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, In 2019, 4-H clubs in DuPage, Kane, and Kendall | ||||||
| 15 | counties reached more than 23,015 youth with the help of 193 | ||||||
| 16 | volunteers from the community; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 18 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 19 | we congratulate the 4-H club in Kendall County on successfully | ||||||
| 20 | celebrating National 4-H Week, and we applaud the efforts of | ||||||
| 21 | the hard-working and talented youth, parents, and volunteers | ||||||
| 22 | that made it possible; and be it further
| ||||||

| 2 | presented to 4-H in Kendall County as a gesture of our sincere | ||||||
| 3 | appreciation.
