| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Maya |
| 4 | | Seante' Powell of Chicago, who passed away on September 29, |
| 5 | | 2020; and

| 6 | | WHEREAS, Maya Powell was born to Stevie and Claudia Powell |
| 7 | | in Chicago on September 8, 1989; she graduated from Kenwood
|
| 8 | | Academy High School; she attended Roosevelt University and
|
| 9 | | Southern Illinois University Edwardsville; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Maya Powell had a passion for basketball and |
| 11 | | music; when her father became a pastor, she became a member of |
| 12 | | Second Mount Calvary and then Believer's Covenant and was a |
| 13 | | part of the choir, the youth ministry, and the Sunday school; |
| 14 | | she enjoyed fun times with her Auntie Rhonda and her cousins, |
| 15 | | as well as her nieces, nephews and younger cousins; she spent |
| 16 | | time writing music with her siblings and cousins, occasionally |
| 17 | | creating a catchy tune that showcased her comedic side; she had |
| 18 | | a quick wit, an infectious smile, and a kind and compassionate |
| 19 | | spirit; and

| 20 | | WHEREAS, Maya Powell was preceded in death by her paternal |
| 21 | | grandparents, John and
Barbara Powell, and her maternal |
| 22 | | grandfather, Claude L. King; and
