| 7 | | Sec. 4.1. Official hiring self. |
| 8 | | (a) An elected or appointed official of a unit of local |
| 9 | | government may not hire or appoint himself or herself to a |
| 10 | | position in the unit of local government if the position is a |
| 11 | | salaried or hourly position. |
| 12 | | (b) Notwithstanding subsection (a), the governing body of |
| 13 | | the unit of local government may consolidate positions within |
| 14 | | the unit of local government by ordinance or resolution if the |
| 15 | | ordinance or resolution states the salary or total compensation |
| 16 | | of an hourly position.
