| 1 | | AN ACT concerning regulation.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 368g as follows:
|
| 6 | | (215 ILCS 5/368g new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 368g. Time-based billing. |
| 8 | | (a) As used in this Section, "CPT code" means the medical |
| 9 | | billing code set contained in the most recent version of the |
| 10 | | Current Procedural Terminology code book published by the |
| 11 | | American Medical Association. |
| 12 | | (b) A health care plan requiring a health care provider to |
| 13 | | use a time-based CPT code to bill for health care services |
| 14 | | shall not apply a time measurement standard that results in |
| 15 | | fewer units billed than allowed by the CPT code book, except as |
| 16 | | required by federal law for federally-funded patients.

| 17 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 18 | | becoming law.
