105 ILCS 5/34-18.66 new

Amends the School Code. Requires the school board to notify the parent or guardian of each student enrolled in the school district if a school employee is under investigation by school authorities or by law enforcement for specified offenses. Provides that the school board must notify the parent or guardian within 5 days after receiving notice of the investigation concerning the school employee.

AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections 10-20.73 and 34-18.66 as follows:

(105 ILCS 5/10-20.73 new)

Sec. 10-20.73. Parental notice of employee under investigation. The school board shall notify the parent or guardian of each student enrolled in the school district if a school employee is under investigation by school authorities or by law enforcement for an offense listed in Section 21B-80 of this Code. The school board must notify the parent or guardian of each student within 5 days after receiving notice of the investigation concerning the school employee.

The board shall notify the parent or guardian of each student enrolled in the school district if a school employee is under investigation by school authorities or by law enforcement for an offense listed in Section 21B-80 of this Code. The board must notify the parent or guardian of each student within 5 days after receiving notice of the investigation concerning the school employee.
