| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General |
| 3 | | Assembly pays honor and respect to individuals who have given |
| 4 | | their lives in service to their communities; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Marcos Leonardo Gudino was born in Elgin |
| 6 | | to Frank and Minerva Gudino on January 26, 1988; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Gudino graduated from St. Edward High |
| 8 | | school in 2006 and then attended Elgin Community College; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Gudino enlisted in August 2010 and served |
| 10 | | in the Illinois Army National Guard as a medic; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Gudino was assigned to the Headquarters |
| 12 | | Company, 1st Battalion, 178th Infantry Regiment based at |
| 13 | | General Richard L. Jones Armory in Chicago; he earned the Army |
| 14 | | Service Ribbon and the National Defense Service Medal; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, On March 25, 2018, Sergeant Gudino passed away |
| 16 | | from injuries sustained when his military ambulance crashed as |
| 17 | | he was returning home from a weekend training; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Gudino also worked at McGrath Auto Sales |
| 19 | | in St. Charles and was recently offered a position as a police |

| 1 | | officer for the Village of Streamwood; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Gudino was a member of St. Laurence |
| 3 | | Catholic Church in Elgin; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Gudino was preceded in death by his |
| 5 | | grandmother, Josefa Gudino; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Gudino is survived by his parents; his |
| 7 | | siblings, Troy Gudino and Mikel Palm; and his many aunts, |
| 8 | | uncles, nieces, nephews, family, and friends; therefore, be it
|
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
| 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES |
| 11 | | CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the US 20 bridge over |
| 12 | | Illinois Route 31 as the "Sergeant Marcos Leonardo Gudino |
| 13 | | Memorial Bridge"; and be it further
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation |
| 15 | | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with |
| 16 | | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs |
| 17 | | giving notice of the name "Sergeant Marcos Leonardo Gudino |
| 18 | | Memorial Bridge"; and be it further

| 19 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 20 | | presented to the family of Sergeant Gudino and the Secretary of |
