2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General

3 | | Assembly pays honor and respect to individuals who have given

4 | | their lives in service to their communities; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Lincoln Hollinsaid was raised in |
6 | | Lake Wildwood and later moved to Malden; he graduated from |
7 | | Princeton High School; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Hollinsaid enlisted in the United |
9 | | States Army in 1995; before the invasion of Iraq in 2003, he |
10 | | transferred to a different military unit to have a better |
11 | | opportunity of serving in combat; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, On April 7, 2003, Staff Sergeant Hollinsaid was |
13 | | the platoon SGT when they had been assigned a mission to tear |
14 | | down a wall that aligned with Highway 8 near the Baghdad |
15 | | airport; after a section had come down, he walked forward to |
16 | | see what was there; at that time, enemy combatants fired upon |
17 | | him, and he was hit by small arms fire and an RPG; he died |
18 | | instantly; and

19 | | WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Hollinsaid was an avid outdoorsman |
20 | | and loved to hunt and drive his pickup, which he had adapted to |
21 | | use for four wheeling in the rough terrain and mountains of |
