2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Robert John Rolih Ph.D., who passed away |
4 | | on December 20, 2018; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Rolih was born to Louis and Antonia |
6 | | (Benegar) Rolih on June 12, 1928; he graduated from St. Joseph |
7 | | Grade School, Joliet Township High School, Joliet Junior |
8 | | College, and the University of Illinois; he earned his Ph.D. in |
9 | | Organic Chemistry from Iowa State University; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Robert Rolih worked at the Monsanto Corporation |
11 | | and Amoco before establishing Rho Chemical Company and ARRO |
12 | | Laboratory; he also acquired MER and General Surfactants |
13 | | throughout his career; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Robert Rolih was a lifetime member of St. Joseph |
15 | | Catholic Church in Joliet, where he proudly served as a |
16 | | Eucharistic Minister and on many counsels; he was also a member |
17 | | of the American Chemical Society, the American Association for |
18 | | the Advancement of Science, and the Joliet Lions Club; he |
19 | | greatly enjoyed following the Solar Eclipse and traveling to |
20 | | Mongolia, Australia, Tahiti, Bolivia, Curacao, Hawaii, Turkey, |
21 | | and Goreville; he was an avid fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and |
22 | | followed them for many years; he enjoyed reading and listening |
