| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of James Bernard Hardy of Danville, who |
| 4 | | passed away on January 8, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, James Hardy was born in Georgetown to James John |
| 6 | | and Gladys Julia Wells Hardy on August 2, 1935; he married |
| 7 | | Sharon Lou Bednar in Westville on August 16, 1958; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, James Hardy worked for Bohn Aluminum; he was also |
| 9 | | elected president of Local 1271 and represented over 5,000 |
| 10 | | members and served as bargaining chairman; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, James Hardy served on the Vermilion County Board |
| 12 | | for many years, where he held several roles, including |
| 13 | | Parliamentarian, Judicial Committee Chair, and Rules Committee |
| 14 | | Chair; he was also an active member of the County Board's |
| 15 | | Nursing Home and Transportation Committees and was known to be |
| 16 | | "persistent in his causes"; he was a member of the Danville |
| 17 | | Barbershoppers, Danville Moose Club, and was president of the |
| 18 | | Lynch Parents Club for a time; he enjoyed playing baseball, |
| 19 | | going to flea markets and auctions, and working in his yard; |

| 21 | | WHEREAS, James Hardy was preceded in death by his brother; |
