| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Charles Joseph "Chuck" Novotny, who |
| 4 | | passed away on January 19, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Novotny was born in Hinsdale to Charles and |
| 6 | | Ruth Novotny on June 13, 1960; he graduated from Downers Grove |
| 7 | | South High School in 1978 and North Central College in 1982; he |
| 8 | | married Terri Otten in Bartlett on July 12, 1986 and received |
| 9 | | his Masters of Guidance Counseling from Concordia University |
| 10 | | Chicago in 1991; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Novotny was a social studies and 6th grade |
| 12 | | teacher at Westfield Junior High in Bloomingdale and a guidance |
| 13 | | counselor at East Leyden High School in Franklin Park; he had a |
| 14 | | passion for coaching and coached Little League, middle school, |
| 15 | | high school, and travel baseball, basketball, and soccer; his |
| 16 | | influence on his players earned him his nickname, The Legend; |
| 17 | | he was also known as "Mr. Chuck" to the neighborhood kids, |
| 18 | | where he played an important part in their lives; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Novotny enjoyed traveling to watch his boys |
| 20 | | play soccer and music; his road trips took him to music venues |
| 21 | | as far as Minneapolis and to soccer stadiums from Denver to |
| 22 | | eastern Canada, where he was always their biggest fans; he was |
